Creating a Personalized Self-Care Plan
How to create a self-care plan that works for you.

Creating a Personalized Self Care Plan
Let’s talk about how to take what we’ve learned about self-care and put it into practice.
We’re going to guide you through the process of creating your own self-care plan tailored to your unique needs and preferences.
By the end of this lesson, you’ll have the framework in place to assess and care for your physical, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual health.
Overcome Barriers to Practicing Self-Care
The next step is to proactively identify common obstacles that may hinder your self-care efforts.
Here are a few common obstacles that can trip us up:
Time Constraints
Am I constantly feeling rushed and unable to find time for self-care activities?
Do I often sacrifice self-care for other responsibilities or obligations?
Can I identify specific time-wasting habits or activities that could be reallocated to self-care?
Conflicting Priorities
Are there competing demands in my life that make it challenging to prioritize self-care?
Do I frequently put the needs of others ahead of my own well-being?
Have I established clear boundaries to protect my self-care time from being compromised by external pressures?
Relationships
Do I have a support system that encourages and reinforces my self-care efforts?
Am I frequently surrounded by individuals who undermine or dismiss my self-care goals?
Are there specific relationships or social situations that negatively impact my self-care routine?
Guilt and Self-Criticism
Do I often feel guilty or self-critical when I take time for self-care?
Am I carrying emotional baggage or negative self-beliefs that hinder self-care practices?
Are there instances in which I feel unworthy of self-care or undeserving of self-kindness?
Environment
Is my physical environment conducive to self-care, or does it frequently disrupt my routines?
Are there external factors, such as noise, clutter, or disorganization, that hinder my ability to engage in self-care?
Have I considered changes or adaptations in my environment to support self-care?
Stressors
What external stressors are consistently affecting my self-care, and how can I manage or reduce them?
Am I frequently overwhelmed by work, family, or financial pressures?
Are there specific stressors that consistently undermine my well-being?
Review and Adjust Your Plan
As with anything, we want to be reviewing and adjusting our plans. Remember that self-care plans can evolve over time. Your needs and circumstances may change, and your plan should adapt accordingly.
Here are a few questions to consider when assessing your self-care plan:
Are My Self-Care Activities Working for Me?
Do the self-care activities I've chosen positively impact my physical, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual well-being?
Have I noticed improvements in my overall sense of well-being and life satisfaction since implementing these activities?
Am I Consistently Practicing Self-Care?
Am I maintaining a consistent routine of self-care activities?
Are there any self-care practices I've neglected, and if so, why?
Do I Need to Adjust My Goals?
Are the goals I've set in my self-care plan still relevant and attainable, or have my circumstances changed?
Have I achieved some of my initial self-care goals, and do I need to set new ones?
Are There Any New Barriers or Challenges?
Have any new obstacles or barriers arisen that are affecting my ability to engage in self-care?
Are there specific stressors, conflicts, or external pressures I need to address?
Is My Self-Care Routine Balanced?
Am I focusing on all five aspects of self-care, including physical, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual well-being?
Have I unintentionally neglected any of these areas?
Am I Celebrating My Self-Care Successes?
Do I acknowledge and celebrate the progress and positive changes I've experienced through self-care?
Am I recognizing and rewarding my efforts to promote motivation and consistency?
Have I Sought Feedback or Support?

Do I need to make any adjustments to ensure self-care remains an integral part of my life?
NOW IT’S YOUR TURN!
This week, which aspect of my self-care am I going to focus on?
What is one activity I am going to do to support my health in that focus area?
What is one barrier that may get in my way from practicing self care in that area?
What am I going to do to proactively remove that barrier?
