Integrating Self Care Into Daily Life
How can you integrate self care into your daily life?

Integrating Self Care Into Daily Life
One of the most important things you can do to maintain your gamble-free life is to prioritize self-care.
For many of us, gambling is a coping mechanism we use when we experience stressors in other areas of our lives. If we can proactively manage our stress, we can reduce our urge to reach for gambling.
In this lesson we’re going to explore tactics for integrating self care into our daily lives.
Barriers to Integration
While there are many barriers to integrating self care into our daily lives, the most common is a lack of time. We often have so many competing priorities that it’s hard to carve out the time to take care of ourselves.
Let’s explore two concepts that can help overcome this challenge, time management and routine integration.
Time Management
Managing your time effectively is crucial for fitting self-care into your day. There are tons of different methods for improving your time management, the important thing is finding something that works for you.
Here are a couple suggestions:
To Do Lists
Create daily or weekly to-do lists with tasks and priorities. Actively put self-care activities on them. Check off items as they are completed to stay organized.
Time Blocking
Allocate specific blocks of time for different activities or tasks. This helps maintain focus and prevents multitasking.
Limit Distractions
Minimize distractions by turning off notifications on devices, setting specific times for checking emails and social media, and creating a distraction-free work environment.
Use Timers
Set timers or alarms to allocate a fixed amount of time to a task. This encourages focused, time-limited work periods.
Delegate
If possible, delegate tasks to others, whether at work or at home. Delegating frees up your time for more important activities.
Use Technology
Consider using time management apps and tools to help you plan, track, and optimize your time.
Set Realistic Expectations
Be realistic about what you can accomplish in a given timeframe. Overloading your schedule leads to stress and inefficiency.
Routine Integration
Another great way to make self-care more accessible is by integrating it into existing routines.
For example, if you have a morning routine, add a few minutes of mindfulness meditation or a short exercise routine. If you commute, use that time for listening to uplifting podcasts or audiobooks.

Additional Ideas
If you have a lunch break at work, take a short walk outside to get some fresh air and clear your mind.
Incorporate mindfulness into your morning routine by spending a few minutes practicing deep breathing exercises or meditation before starting your day.
Schedule regular breaks throughout the day to stretch, stand up, and move around, especially if you have a desk job.
Set aside time in the evening to unwind and relax by taking a warm bath or shower before bedtime.
Dedicate a specific day of the week for self-care activities, such as Sunday evenings for pampering yourself with a face mask or DIY spa treatments.
