Clinical Integration

Using the Lesson Database in Session

Shows providers how to navigate and use the CBT-based Lesson Database as between-session homework, with a suggested workflow for selecting, introducing, and debriefing lessons clinically.

What the Lesson Database Contains

The Lesson Database is a searchable directory of every CBT-based lesson available in Evive. Lessons are organized by theme and can be browsed by topic, pathway, or clinical objective. Each lesson entry includes a brief description of the content and its therapeutic focus.

How to Use It

You don't need to prescribe a full curriculum. The most effective use of the Lesson Database is targeted and specific: identify one or two lessons that align with what you're currently working on in therapy, and introduce them as between-session practice.

Suggested Approach

Steps for Integrating Lessons

  • Before the session, spend two to three minutes browsing the Lesson Database for content relevant to your client's current focus

  • At the end of the session, mention the lesson by name and explain why you're recommending it: "There's a lesson on urge surfing that I think would be a good follow-up to what we talked about today"

  • In the following session, open with a brief check-in about the lesson: what resonated, what didn't, what came up

  • Use that feedback as clinical material — agreement or resistance to the content is informative either way

Good Entry-Point Lesson Topics

  • Trigger identification and awareness

  • Craving management and urge surfing

  • Cognitive distortions related to gambling

  • Financial awareness and impact reflection

  • Values clarification and goal-setting

  • Communication and relationship repair (particularly relevant for affected individuals)
